Pediatric Screening

Give your children a beautiful smile

We offer quality Pediatric Screening at Amana Dental. Regular screenings are important for the dental health and development of children’s teeth.

Primary teeth can be more prone to cavities since they are smaller with a thinner layer of enamel than secondary teeth. We advise scheduling regular dental appointments every six months to prevent any issues or address them as soon as they are detected.

From Infancy to Adulthood.

We will be there for your child every step of the way from their first tooth to their wisdom teeth

Ages 0 to 4

In most cases, it is not required to bring your infant to a dentist. Your baby will usually begin getting their first tooth at about six months. This can often be a painful process for your infant. To help manage this, we recommend the use of teething rings alongside Pediatric Screening Tylenol or Ibuprofen. The first dental visit can begin between the ages of three and four. By this age, they should have most of their primary teeth.

Ages 4 to 12

This age range is when a child will have a mix of primary and secondary teeth. Crooked teeth, overbites, underbites, and teeth grinding issues may occur as the development of secondary teeth can put pressure on the other primary teeth and cause them to misalign. This is why it’s important at this stage to confirm that the teeth are healthy and developing properly as well as identify any problem areas.

Ages 13 to Adulthood

During puberty, your child will likely have lost the majority of their Pediatric Screening. At this stage, we are on the lookout for progress on the alignment of the teeth, growth of wisdom teeth, and of course—cavities. We might also start looking into braces to help with cases of misalignment.

What is the difference between a dentist and a pediatric dentist?

Pediatric dentists are dentists that only provide dental care to children and those under the age of 18. However, many dentists offer dental services to both children and adults, including Amana Dental. Schedule an appointment with us today and let us help you and your whole family get your Pediatric Screening on track.
